For more than 20 years Seaway Plastics Engineering has excelled in building quick-turnaround injection molds that support our customer’s prototype and low volume production requirements. Here are three examples of recent projects at Seaway:

...A Global Science and Technology firm with annual revenues exceeding $3.7 billion develops a rotary peristaltic enteral feeding pumping that will require 12 complex plastic parts. Molds built from S-7 soft steel are completed and sampled in 3 weeks. Communications that ensured a successful project were extensive and detailed. The customers expectations were exceeded!

...One of the world's leading designers and manufacturers of time management products for business tasks Seaway with building 6 molds that included highly cosmetic housings as well as complex internal parts. Approved parts are needed in 4 weeks to meet product launch. Following design revisions and the sampling of various colors for approval, parts are delivered on-time and the customers new product launch is a huge success!

...Well known design and development company comes to Seaway with a “Talking Book” application; project requires 10 molds and extensive secondary operations including pad printing in 13 locations, 16 brass inserts and multiple ultrasonic welding operations. Coordination of ultrasonic, pad printing and assembly requirements critical to the projects success....molds are built from both aluminum and steel, completed and sampled with assembled parts delivered in under 6 weeks.

Below is more information about our mold-making and injection molding capabilities.

MOLD MAKING

We build prototype and low volume production molds for enterprises who seek a collaborative process flexible enough to deal with any engineering change, fast enough to beat accelerated timelines and trustworthy enough to maintain confidentiality and deliver what's committed - on time and within budget.

Industries Served

Over 50% of our company sales originate from the Medical market while the other half of our business comes from markets ranging from packaging, to business & electronic equipment, to automotive to consumer products.

Types Of Molds

Our flexibility allows us to build all aluminum, a combination of aluminum and steel or all steel molds depending on the requirements of the project and the preference of our customer.

Quality Assurance

Our quality management system is based upon the rigorous standards and solid management principles of ISO 9001:2000. We have been certified since 1999. Our current ISO certificate of approval (Certificate # UQA 0111016) runs through January 31, 2011.

Statistical process analysis and evaluation is also an integral part of Seaway's Quality Assurance Department, with the most up-to-date statistical tools, methodology and equipment utilized.

Quotations

Quoting is the initial phase of any project; therefore, it is essential that all information relating to the project be made available as early in the planning phase as possible. This would include any sketches, prints, models, pictures and data files (wireframes, surfaces, bitmaps, hidden line isometric views etc.). The most useful information for manufacturing is 3-D wireframe and surface data files. These files should be sent as part of the quotation package whenever possible. Information not readily available at time of quoting should be submitted upon completion. Design changes or significant part revisions should be communicated as soon as possible to avoid delays and/or re-quoting costs. Keep in mind receiving complete and accurate preliminary material will allow Seaway to provide the most accurate quote possible.

File Compression Methods:

A file compression method is needed in many cases due to the large file size created by many CAD systems. We use PKZIP and GZIP. Files zipped using a self extracting method are also acceptable.

File Naming Revisions Control:

File naming conventions are up to the customer, although we do suggest the following guidelines be taken into consideration when naming files.

1. The filename should reflect information pertaining directly to the part itself. "For example" Use the part number or the part name as the file name.
2. Avoid using non-descriptive filenames such as "seaway" or "surface".
3. Revised files should specify the revision information in the filename. "For example" If the original filename is "case", the revised filename could be "case1" or "casea".
